Okay before we begin let put some context to this. This review is based on the price point of the lens (sub £100) and not a comparison again a pro lens (plus £1000). You just can’t do that!
Where to buy:
You can buy on Amazon and please note this is an affiliate link which means I can earn a little bit of money from Amazon.
Pergear 10mm F8 Cap Lens APS-C Fisheye Lens – https://amzn.to/3rB31rs
First Impressions:
The build quality is nice! – Metal body and a surprisingly satisfying lens cover.
Function:
Manual focus which if you use the focus peaking on the LCD screen makes it super easy to focus and after creating 2 duff shots I never missed focus again.
Why Buy:
Because you want to take some creative shots and have a 10mm lens.
The other reason is photographers get all tied up in having zoom lenses and trying to choose which focal length to take a shot at and what depth of field is required. By using a fixed prime lens like this you take all those options away and you can then focus on just being creative, you have to look and find the composition that suits what you have.
Quality of images:
Okay so the quality is nothing compared to my work images (but then there is a several thousand-pound difference in the kit used) but they are good! Perfect for social media or home prints and you can see the quality in the samples below and I’m more than happy to use these images on the web to show off as I’m not pixel peeping over these images and there is no need to be at this level.
I have seen other peoples review of this lens not focusing and honestly I don’t get it and you can see the results for yourself in the pictures below.
Who will Buy:
As a pro photographer, I wouldn’t buy this for paid work, but then again I wouldn’t use a Z50 for paid work either. But as a pro photographer, I would buy this for fun, personal projects or Instagram posts as gives me options to experiment and enjoy the art of photography.
Will I use it again?:
Yes is the simple answer, it’s a great bit of kit to bring out for the right subject and the size of it means you can just put it in your bag for when it’s needed.
Why the Stars:
Build quality is great.
Price point is cheap and makes it worth having for a few shots.
Quality of images is surprising good; especially at the price point.
I’m not thinking I’m getting a thousand-pound lens for this price.
Test Conditions:
