The Nikon Z50 was amazing when it came out, and to be fair, it’s still pretty impressive, but it wasn’t quite what I needed for the purpose it was being used for.
The Nikon Z30 was, in my view, an upgrade (not a downgrade) as it fitted my needs perfectly. The video below goes through the reasons why it was an excellent fit for me, including the tally light, continuous recording, redesigned strap hooks, etc.
Now I wasn’t using the Nikon Z50 for photography like when I originally got it as that was replaced by the Zfc, which is amazing, and I absolutely love to bits (it’s a retro thing) but purely as a video camera. The lack of EVF (Electronic View Finder) on the Nikon Z30 would be an issue for me if I were taking more than a few pictures with it, so you need to bear that in mind if you are thinking about the two of them.
