I haven’t been this excited to get a camera for a loooooong time (well, since the Nikon Zfc, which feels like a long time ago), so when the day came to pre-order, I was on it 😁 and I chose the pure black colour way as I almost bought another Zfc to get that colour (glad I didn’t do that).
Well, the first few days created a bit of excitement, and I went full steam to get a few videos out there, which are below should you wish to watch them from an unboxing (it’s all about the excitement), menus for the technically minded and first review (after two days of use).
There are a few things that I wanted out of the camera that didn’t get delivered, which were:
- no charger
- wish the c option worked in manual mode – (actually, I’ve made this work now by using the front ‘FN’ button for ‘ISO’
- Wish you could have a different shooting folder for photo and video
So as you can see there really isn’t a lot that I needed extra – It’s an amazing camera!
Features that I noticed and I’ve broken these down into sections for you:
Things I noticed:
- The ability to add a soft shutter button
- Micro SD
- Weather sealing
- Wireless connection of up to 10 cameras for remote shutter
Photo mode:
- 30fps continuous shooting is like video
- View mode (live view) has been renamed but is still the same in menu d9
- 8 stop VR
- C setting on ISO – setup shortcut (front dial using auto)
- high shutter speed is amazing
- Pre-release capture
- Tracking for planes, cars, birds, etc
- Custom autofocus areas
- Monochrome setup
- Soften Skin
- Portrait Balance
- Diffraction compensation
- Deleting photos now do both cards if required
- Pixel shift shooting – NX studio – pixel mapping
Video:
- 60fps 4k
- 8bit or 10 bit and SDR, HLG or N-Log
- Video record length 125 mins
- Timecode ability
- Soften Skin
- Portrait Balance
- DX crop on 4k filming in 50 and 60 fps
- VR – the difference between sport and normal is huge
If you like the videos, it would be great if you would subscribe to the channel and help support.
