I thought I would share with you all the process I go through and what I actually do when you request my services for your wedding.
Once I have come to see you and spent a couple of hours going through your wedding plans and discussing how I can capture your magic moment, I head back to the office to book in all your details so that everything is documented while it is fresh in my mind.
I will then do research on your chosen venues for the ceremony and reception. I work out the timings and get detailed maps with the direction of sunlight for your chosen day, as each month and year the sun sets and rises in different positions. This helps me to be prepared for doing group shots, as we don’t want everyone facing the sun and squinting into the camera – this really doesn’t look good! I want your memories to be perfect.
The engagement shoot will generally take a couple of hours plus driving time. The reasons why we do an engagement shoot can be found here. Once back at the office, I will spend a couple of hours editing the photographs from the shoot and uploading them to your own gallery online and burning you a DVD of the images.
We will then arrange for you to drop the rings around to our studio for an hour, so that we may take some photographs of the rings in a controlled studio environment with perfect lighting and perfect backdrops. We do this before you start wearing them, so that there are no wear and tear marks on the rings which will inevitably happen once the rings have been worn for a while. It’s always nice to have detailed souvenir pictures of the rings when they’re brand new, especially if you have had some engraving on the inside of them.
On the big day, I will usually arrive an hour early, which can mean some really early mornings, especially if I have to travel a fair distance and even more so if I am covering the ‘getting ready’ shoot. If I have to travel more than an hour, though, I will usually stop overnight near the location, so that I will be fresh and ready to capture the day. I will then spend all of my time on my feet, until the meal – at which point I will retire to my car, while you enjoy the luxury of not
having a photographer photograph you eating! At this point, I upload all the images taken so far and check that they are perfect. After that, it will be back on my feet to capture the rest of the magic. At the end of the celebrations I will make my way back to the office to make sure that all the photographs are backed up and safe.
Next, I will spend a whole day editing your photos and uploading them to your private gallery and creating a DVD of images for you. I will then arrange a meeting and travel over to you to present the disc and show you the photographs of your big day. I will leave you to have a look through the online gallery and select the photographs you would like in your wedding album.
Once I have your selection of images, I will then spend half a day putting them together in a format for the album and will send you a pdf with a finished preview and a sign-off form. Once I have the signed form, I will then order your album from Italy.
As soon as the album has arrived I will arrange another visit with you and travel over to present the album and make sure you are happy.
All that is left is to congratulate you once more, and I will then meet you again when you need some christening photographs done!
